JipiJapa Crafts (Carludovica palmata)

In this community, most of the population is dedicated to the production of handicrafts based on jipi palm.

These handicrafts are woven in caves, due to the humidity that is stored in them, since this favors the raw material to remain flexible at the time of weaving, otherwise the material dries up and breaks; Another very important fact is that the natural material is light beige in color and to give it color it is dyed with a natural dye based on bark, leaves or roots. Artesanias JipiJapa (Carludovica palmata)

En esta comunidad la mayor parte de la población se dedica a la elaboración de artesanías a base de palma de jipi.

Estas artesanías se tejen en cuevas, por la humedad que en ellas se guarda, ya que esto favorece para que la materia prima se mantenga flexible al momento de tejer, de lo contrario el material se reseca y quiebra; otro dato muy importante es que el material al natural es de color beige claro y para dar color se tiñe con tinte natural a base de cortezas, hojas o raíces.
